Processing zirconium oxide before sintering (in the green state) is a critical stage for successful use of this material. However, extreme care is required at this stage because the CAD/CAM milled structure has low hardness and incorrect processing can cause irreversible damage.

Any contamination (such as hand oil, incorrect rotary instruments or foreign particles) can significantly affect the material properties of zirconium oxide.
