Chlo-Site Bioadhesive Chlorhexidine Gel — Up to 20 Days
Chlo-Site is a xanthan-based bioadhesive gel with dual-form chlorhexidine for subgingival use and controlled release. Used as adjunctive therapy after mechanical debridement (SRP). The gel adheres in the pocket and can remain active for up to about 20 days, helping suppress biofilm and recolonization.
Composition
- Chlorhexidine digluconate 0.5% — immediate antimicrobial effect
- Chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 1.0% — controlled long-term release
- Xanthan gum carrier — mucoadhesive, viscoelastic stay in the pocket
Action
- Disrupts bacterial membranes leading to microbial kill
- Creates high local chlorhexidine concentration subgingivally
- Slow continuous release via the xanthan polymer
